La Plata

Julie, her cousin Chris and I hiked La Plata Peak last Saturday. It was the second 14er I'd ever completed and the first one in 13 years. I had a couple of harrowing experiences above 13k feet and I think I had a mental block about hiking above that elevation. Julie and Chris were so positive leading up to the hike and kept up the encouragement the whole way (and it is a long way) to the top. Weather was beautiful (unlike my failed summit attempts up Mt Evans and Long's Peak in the mid '90s). Now we're planning a mid-week hike up Mt Bierstadt and I'm really looking forward to it.
