Mt Bierstadt

Julie and I went camping on Tuesday night above the town of Grant on Guanella Pass Road. My car HATED driving up there - we needed a car with higher profile tires, one that I didn't mind when it was bouncing all around on a dirt road. We camped at the Burning Bear campground 4 miles NW of Grant. The campground has impeccably clean port-a-potties and really nice car camping. We got up around 6:30 and drove the final 6 miles to the Mt Bierstadt trailhead at the summit of Guanella Pass. The trail is poorly marked and much used.

Here are some photos of the hike.

Bierstadt Hike

Some of the highlights included: Julie's second 14er. Julie's first time seeing mountain goats (and this was something she'd wanted to do for a LONG time). Marmot, Ptarmigan and Pica-watching. General good times!
